Pros

  • You can get Sanken COS-11D, Countryman B3 or B6, Sennheiser MKE Gold, DPA 4060 or 6060 and a few other model numbers that I can't remember right now
  • My primaries are DPA 4060’s, with Sanken Cos11’s and the B3’s as options.
  • I’ve also seen a lot of recommendations for the DPA 4060 if you want to spend a little extra.
  • DPA 4060 lav and Zaxcom wireless is an option.
  • If you’re asking “best” lav mic without a boom, and you’re renting, I would say get DPA 4060’s or 6060’s.

Cons

  • I think this is the model with some issues with 2.4ghz controls/transmission from some wireless packs, I’d avoid this wire for anything 2.4ghz.
  • Mic is a DPA 4060, ursa mini mount, and dropped through and on an ankle mounted transmitter (by talents request.)
  • I feel like I get a lot of these sticky, clicky tape noises with the Bubblebee concealer for my dpa 4060’s.

Either a 4060 or a 6060 depending on the circumstance.

Buy some cos11 or dpa4060 in second hand and you are good to go.

DPA 4060: Sounds like a DPA, rich and clean, somewhat delicate but caps are harder to loose. A larger capsule then the 6060, about as easy to hide as a cos-11. Less clothing noise/cable noise as it’s a larger capsule.

I use 6060s almost exclusively for lavs. No complaints.
