Deity W.Lav Pro
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Deity W.Lav Pro is recognized as a high-value, budget-friendly lavalier microphone that is particularly noted for its impressive water resistance and small form factor. While it is frequently recommended as a cost-effective upgrade over stock microphones like the Sennheiser ME2, professional users caution that it lacks the clarity and headroom of industry-standard premium mics. Its microdot system provides significant versatility for users switching between different wireless transmitters.
Pros
- Excellent water resistance; capable of surviving immersion or heavy moisture
- High 'bang for your buck' with a small form factor that is easy to conceal
- Versatile connectivity options via microdot adapters or 3.5mm locking terminations
- Considered a significant upgrade over many basic stock wireless kit microphones
Cons
- Low SPL rating makes the capsule prone to 'blowing out' or clipping in loud environments
- Noticeable lack of clarity and headroom compared to high-end alternatives like DPA
- Mixed opinions on its sound signature, with some preferring the tone of the Sennheiser ME2
Caveats
- While labeled 'Pro,' it is generally categorized as a mid-tier or budget option rather than a high-end professional standard
- Performance in noisy environments is reported to be sub-optimal
Best for
- Budget-conscious location sound recording
- Wet or damp environments where more expensive mics might be damaged
- Users needing a tiny capsule for concealment on a limited budget
Avoid if
- You are recording high-SPL sources that require significant headroom
- Your project demands the elite audio fidelity of DPA or Sanken level equipment
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 402 days, which may not reflect the very latest hardware revisions or market competitors.

Deity W.Lav Pro (this one is not as high end as the rest, but it works).
The difference in clarity and headroom on the DPA’s vs W.Lav is pretty significant. I’ve just never been happy with the results I’ve gotten from W.Lav pro.
I find w lav pro by deity particularly good sounding.
Not a good mic in noisy environments, low spl rating on the W.Lav Pro, they frequently blow out. I would put the ME2 ahead of it.
Deity W.Lav Pro are really good at staying alive after getting water in them and not that expensive
I will buy myself a wireless system like the Røde Wireless Pro or the Sennheiser G4 with something like the Deity W.Lav Pro.
Imo a cheap very decent option you have is getting w lav pro terminated for Sony.
I used Diety W Lav Pro’s with Sony microdot adapters and unterminated Sanken COS-11’s that I wired for Sony using locking 3.5mm connectors.
Small capsules to consider: Deity W.Lav Pro, Deity W.Lav Micro, DPA 6060, Countryman B6.
I have two Deity W.Lav Pro mics that I don't use much but seem OK...for sure better than what Sennheiser provides.
