Pros

  • You don’t have to keep the Deity TC-1 plugged in, it’ll stay jammed until I power off the F3 as long as the TCA-1 stays plugged in.
  • I have Deity TC-1s and love them. The wireless sync is great but even if I could record and transmit, jam syncing the K9 with a cable from the TC-1 before the shoot is a pretty quick and painless operation.
  • I haven’t used Tentacle’s time code stuff but from what I’ve read it has no display, has to be configured with an app and is more expensive than Deity TC-1 (which I do use.) You _can_ configure the TC-1 with an app but it so easy on the...
  • the best value with solid features at the moment is probably Deity's TC-1.
  • Deity TC-1 can either send line-level timecode or it can send mic-level timecode to one track and scratch sound to the other channel using the internal mic on the TC-1. So you can sync in post with timecode or with audio waveforms as a b...

  • Yet 3 years for a budget friendly TC isn't awful and I feel it comes with the territory. Heck, I've had "pro" devices fail in less time due to just constant use. At these prices, I don't think they're meant to be repaired, with the excep...

  • I wouldn't be surprised if it's just the crappy deity timecode device.
  • I don’t think they’re rated. But I accidentally put one through the wash and let it dry out for a week and it’s been working fine for over a year.

I haven’t used Tentacle’s time code stuff but from what I’ve read it has no display, has to be configured with an app and is more expensive than Deity TC-1 (which I do use.) You _can_ configure the TC-1 with an app but it so easy on the device I never do. With the display you can always see the time code and frame rate. They run 20+ hours on a single charge.

Deity TC-1 can either send line-level timecode or it can send mic-level timecode to one track and scratch sound to the other channel using the internal mic on the TC-1. So you can sync in post with timecode or with audio waveforms as a backup.

To be honest Deity’s timecode products are pretty on-point as far as keeping accurate timecode. Especially for things like multi-cam shoots, or just using a mirrorless camera that doesn’t have timecode.

I have a few Deity TC-1 timecode generators and rarely use them all. I was thinking I could make my own slate by plugging an extra TC-1 into a timecode display and velcro it to a regular slate.
