CPU Cooler
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Opinions on CPU coolers are divided between those who view them as a critical component where quality shouldn't be sacrificed and those who see them as an area to save money for better processors or GPUs. While stock coolers are considered sufficient for entry-level CPUs like the Ryzen 5, aftermarket air coolers—even budget models around $20-$30—are widely recommended for significantly better thermal performance and lower noise. Installation is a common pain point, and large coolers present specific risks during transport.
Pros
- Significant temperature reductions (up to 11°C under load) compared to stock or poorly mounted coolers
- High-performing budget options are available for as low as $20-$30
- Improved system aesthetics
- Many aftermarket options include all necessary mounting hardware and fans
Cons
- Large coolers can block motherboard slots or RAM if not oriented correctly
- Installation can be frustrating and difficult for some users
- Heavy dual-tower heat sinks can damage the CPU socket or bend fins if the PC is shipped without being disassembled
- High-end models (e.g., $300) are often viewed as overpaying for marginal gains
Caveats
- Correct fan orientation (pushing air through the radiator and out the back) is critical for performance
- Stock coolers are generally only recommended for lower-tier CPUs
- Thermal paste application is often over-emphasized; minor bubbles usually have little effect on performance
Best for
- Builders looking to significantly lower CPU temperatures on a budget
- Users upgrading from stock cooling for better thermal headroom
- Aesthetic-focused PC builds
Avoid if
- You are building a low-power system where a stock cooler is sufficient
- You frequently ship your PC and do not want to remove the cooler each time
- You are on an extremely tight budget where every dollar must go toward the CPU or GPU
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 199 days, which may not reflect the most recent product releases in the fast-changing hardware market.

You should get a cpu cooler , the stock one can handle only a ryzen 5 . Just get a cheap air cooler and it will perform much better .
for 30 canadian dollars you can get a very well reviewed cpu cooler on amazon, which will include all the needed mounting hardware.
Somewhere between no and very little effect is my guess. The pressure from screwing should have no problem with a couple of extra bubbles.
A nice CPU cooler also makes it look really nice.
The selected CPU cooler comes with 2 120mm fans. I run this configuration with more powerful hardware and no thermal issues.
Remove GPU and if you have a big dual tower heat sink, remove that too. ... The cooler you need packing peanuts and a box for it to avoid fins getting bent. Pack this snug with clothes but not tight and can be in checked bag.
Also, never cheap out on a CPU cooler.
Cheaping out on the RAM, case, cpu cooler and fans is fine. You really only need a good mid-range motherboard too. GPU and CPU are the priorities. DO NOT cheap out on the power supply!
The specs will play games fine at 1440p, but you're heavily overpaying on the CPU cooler and storage. You can get similar looking/performing components for much less.
Your CPU cooler having 3 fans would technically be enough, but adding a few in the bottom for intake would be a good move as well. But you don't need 12. 5-6 is good
