AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Costco Travel is highly regarded by users for its value-driven vacation packages and car rentals, often providing significant financial incentives through shop cards and Executive membership cash back. While users praise its customer service and ease of booking for pre-set itineraries, it is noted as being less flexible for travelers requiring high levels of customization or complex group logistics.

Pros

  • Competitive pricing on vacation packages and car rentals
  • Excellent customer service, including proactive handling of refunds and adjustments
  • Financial perks such as Costco shop cards and Executive membership cash back
  • Convenient bundled packages that include hotels, tickets, and transportation

Cons

  • Limited customization options for pre-set packages
  • May not be ideal for large groups (e.g., 8+ people) requiring specific arrangements

Caveats

  • Some highly positive experiences cited by users date back to 2018 and 2019, though recent sentiment remains strong
  • Value is often maximized only for those with an Executive membership

Best for

  • Costco Executive members
  • Travelers seeking all-inclusive or pre-bundled vacation packages
  • Users looking for reliable and discounted car rentals

Avoid if

  • You require a highly bespoke or customized travel itinerary
  • You are organizing a large group with complex, non-standard needs

We booked a trip to Maui in 2019 and it was fantastic. We paid $1900 for an 11 day trip.

I booked a cruise to Alaska for 25 family members. That was in 2018. They were great and the prices were really good. Plus I got almost $4000 back on my year end credit check.

I’m considering renting a car through Costco Travel since I’ve heard they often have really good deals.

as far as Costco Travel it can be great as far as a pre-set package, but you guys have 8 folks and you may need a higher level of customization.

They handled everything, got us our refund, and saw that we didn't use the car upon arrival since we arrived by train and refunded us that portion as well. World class customer service whenever I have had to call.

Definitely recommend. As others have mentioned, if you have the executive membership it counts towards your cash back and packages usually come with cash for use in store as well.

We’ve used them many times for car rentals and for 2 trip packages. One was to Universal Studios (included hotel, park jumping tickets, rental car) and once for Costa Rica (all inclusive resort and shuttle to and from airport). Great experience with both packages, plus got a shop card for both. Definitely recommend, especially if the price is looking good.
