Pros

  • Just tried the same test on my 650watt and it started fine.
  • I put my original 650 watt psu and everything started like normal.
  • The CX650M is a much higher quality PSU. Alternatively if you want something cheaper but still not a fire hazard, a Cooler Master MWE Gold V3 650W is only a little more expensive than that Smart 500.
  • I know the inexpensive Corsair CX650M is like the best budget PSU out there based on pro reviews and my own personal experience with it... especially it just happened to be 140mm and fit perfect in my case.
