Contiki

Contiki is widely recognized as a leader in large-scale group tours for young travelers, often described as the "king of big bus party tours." While it earns praise for its social atmosphere and better-than-average accommodations, it is frequently criticized for its grueling, fast-paced itineraries and a heavy emphasis on late-night partying.
Pros
- Strong social environment that is particularly welcoming to solo travelers and international groups.
- Higher quality food and accommodation compared to some direct competitors.
- Responsive customer support in handling safety issues or roommate conflicts.
Cons
- Itineraries are often described as "ridiculously rushed" and physically exhausting.
- Large group sizes (30+ people) can lead to the formation of cliques.
- Heavy focus on drinking and partying until early hours may be off-putting for some.
Caveats
- Securing a private room can be difficult and may involve a waiting period for approval.
- The experience is highly dependent on the specific group dynamic and the energy of the other travelers.
Best for
- Extroverted solo travelers looking to meet people.
- Young travelers who prioritize nightlife and social activity.
- Those who prefer a pre-planned, high-energy itinerary.
Avoid if
- You prefer a slow-paced or deeply immersive cultural experience.
- You are sensitive to sleep deprivation or "grueling" travel schedules.
- You want to avoid large, party-centric group environments.

I found everyone got along quite well on the trip, I'm Canadian and got on well with the Aussies and Brits.
Not a ton of help, but my friend did a contiki trip in Europe and loved it
I had loads of fun, Aussie humour is pretty bang on ours you'll be fine. There were mostly solo people alongside a few larger groups but everybody got along well.
Doing it with Contiki is a terrible idea.
The quality on Contiki is just… better. Better food, better accommodation, better people. Have travelled with all three.
I've heard from others I've met that have done Contiki that because the tours are bigger than your average group tour people form cliques quite quickly (it's hard to be friends with all 30+ people) which means you'll probably find a group of other Brits anyway. I wouldn't worry about it, but do be prepared for it to be quite a grueling endurance test!
I did a Contiki in Colombia and of the 5 group tours I've done so far it was the least enjoyable because whilst I like socialising, the people on that tour were into partying every night until the early hours.
I have not done a tour with Contiki, I have looked at them many times but never found their itinerary/price compelling.
It’s not worth going on one of those contiki tours. Those are ridiculously rushed.
A lot of young Aussies are extremely extroverted, and happy to drink and talk with anyone, especially Brits we love youse. So don’t worry at all :)
