Pros

  • If that still doesn't fix it all the way then I would recommend tretinoin, clindamycin phosphate, or Winlevi. The goal is to control your sebum production.
  • My advice is to see a dermatologist to be prescribed a topical tretinoin, clindamycin phosphate, or a topical hormone like Winlevi (very little hormonal absorption), or a combination.
  • night: gentle foaming cleanser --> clindamycin --> moisturizer every 2 days
  • they said i could use clindamycin twice daily but i also do know that when i was on curology i was only applying it at night while my routine in the morning was just cleanser + sunscreen.
  • so my insurance has stopped covering for my acne prescriptions which consisted of clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide gel and a tretinoin.

Cons

  • your routine sounds solid but layering clindamycin with BP wash twice daily might be overkill for combo skin.
  • since my acne has not been clearing up with my current routine, i have been prescribed 1% clindamycin phosphate.

I have a RX to prevent acne breakouts (even though I'm not severely acne prone): Clindamycin Phosphate

At night, you could stick with your gentle cleanser, then either clindamycin again if your prescriber advised twice daily, or alternate nights with your azelaic acid.
