Pros
- My 2960x is arguably the most quiet device in my rack, next to my fanless router lol
- The 2960x is solid! It's super quiet too. Just a small blower fan. No axials! Super capable switch with 10gb uplinks, and honestly all you need for the next decade!
- cisco products are pretty OP though, love the IOS.
- They're also good for learning/practising Cisco IOS if you're looking yo get your certs or even just support a Cisco environment. Throw in a cheap 2900-series router or two and you've got a perfect training platform.
- The 2960X is the most rock solid workhorse of a gigabit switch you'll ever find. They're like the AK-47 of switches - you can drag 'em through the mud, beat 'em up, misuse them, and they'll keep on working
Cons
- Quiet-ish, except on startup! So don't stick one of these in the closet beside your bed if you have occasional power outages in the middle of the night or the fan spin up on start will scare the bejeezus out of you.

Keep them maybe they are old but gold. These are one of the cheap options and very good for learning oh and almost forgot... Quiet
i still have those (2960X) running in my office. it's great as long you don't need 10gig network
The 2960x is a good switch and is still supported (not being sold anymore, but still get updates for it) - pretty solid for a 1g switch
they are great for novice beginners to learn Cisco commands and networking at L2 and I believe 2960X are L3 capable.
