For one, they just sound a lot cleaner and more clear, but the detail, depth and instrument separation just feel superior on these headphones. With the Sony's, some particular songs especially, feel pretty muddy/muted when compared to the BW's, and in some moments it sounds like the instruments have some sort of overlap rather than a clear separation if that makes sense.
I should start off by saying that both headphones take some time getting used to, especially the BW's. I mostly blame it on the materials, as the BW's are metallic and therefore have a higher clamping force when compared to the XM6.
And with the qualities that the BW's offer over the XM6, I can personally justify spending the money on them.
But when comparing them generally, BW's do take the cake in terms of sound quality. No idea why it took me days to realize this, but they are in fact deliver sound of higher clarity, detail and overall quality.
However, what I also noticed is that in terms of longer listening sessions, the BW's seemed better once again. With the XM6, I have this feeling om slight discomfort on my ears after wearing them for longer periods of time. Not to mention, my ears definitely get more sweaty in them compared to the BW's as well.

Well, it worked. I have no idea how I didn't notice the differences on the first day of buying, but the sound quality on the BW's is indeed better than the Sony's by a lot.
After listening to the BW's for days and going back to the XM6, the gap in sound quality (which, as stated above, is my main priority in headphones) just ended up being the deciding factor.

Aside from the aesthetic looks alone, the earcups of the XM6 are very bulky which I'm not the biggest fan of. They're a lot smaller on the BW's which makes them look even more elegant in comparison.
