Backroads

Pros

• We used Backroads a few times for our cycling excursions and they were phenomenal. They offer hiking, cycling and a hybrid tour.
• I’ve been on 5 Backroads trips. They are a great company to travel with. If you call them they can tell you the age make up of the trip you are interested in. Highly recommend them!
• We did run into a few but very few people/couple our age then. ... Backroads was one of them for one of our trips. We enjoyed that trip as well.
• Backroads has a category specifically for “30’s and 40’s”. It doesn’t look like they have a ton of options yet but it’s there, these ones are also for everyone, there’s a separate category for women only.

Cons

• For example, I asked Backroads about a trip and it did not seem they had any wildlife guides during their hikes. Also it seems that it is practically mainly women? I was looking at some Flashpack options and not a single guy had booked.
• I hadn't heard of the Company but from looking online it appears very expensive for what you get. You could organise yourself for a fraction of the price, including a hire car.
• Yea fiully aware there is a huge markup. We still have half of our trip that is self driving, so I'm counting on the transportation aspect and qualitu of the guides to get the value of the trip over the finish line. Also, it will be nice...
• paying close to 1,000 USD per day for walking in Italy or Ireland? That's just absurd.
