The ASUS B650E-E MAX Gaming WiFi is frequently cited as a strong value-oriented motherboard for the AM5 platform, often appearing in popular retail bundles. While it offers modern features like PCIe 5.0 support and good I/O expansion, user sentiment is tempered by some reports of weak VRMs and software-related quirks in the UEFI.
Pros
- Includes PCIe 5.0 support on the primary slot for future-proofing
- Offers better-than-expected PCIe slot bifurcation and expansion options for its class
- Frequently available in high-value CPU/RAM bundles at retailers like Microcenter
- Solid I/O and connectivity features including WiFi and Bluetooth
Cons
- Some users characterize the VRMs as weak compared to higher-end alternatives
- Reports of UEFI bugs, such as 'Stealth Mode' failing to keep RGB lighting off
- Isolated reports of system instability or driver-related crashes
Caveats
- Users with very high budgets may find better long-term value in newer X870 or B850 chipsets
- Performance gains over standard B650 boards may be minimal for average workloads
Best for
- AM5 builders looking for PCIe 5.0 on a budget
- Users purchasing through Microcenter bundles
- Mid-range gaming builds requiring decent I/O expansion
Avoid if
- You require the most robust VRM setup for extreme overclocking

When I came back and turned my PC on, the GPU RGB was mysteriously on, even though I have no RGB software installed and I have set Stealth Mode on in Asus UEFI (both onboard and Aura off, mobo is an Asus B650E Max Gaming Wifi).

The problem is that this costs about 1000$ where i live (sweden) and it seems like it doesn't make that big of a change.
the motherboard vrms are weak, but otherwise an alright board.
If you live near a Microcenter you can do an entry level AM5 bundle for the same cost. Higher performance and better upgrade path.
