I have the updated motherboard (the x870e I think?) so if I keep the same package but do the 9800 it'll be 1000$ for the bundle.
Yeah, the x870 is almost professional level features. USB4 is great for people who need it, but so few devices require 40gbps speeds.

But if I have the money and actually get some benefit out of it. Why not? Unfortunately anything technology is never a buy once cry once situation. My thought is to spend a little extra for some quality of life benefits and quality components in the hopes I won't need to purchase anything for a long time if I don't want to.
I prefer the VRM's on the X870E for the best stability for when I do long-running simulations and AutoCAD for 8-10 hours.

I was planning on actually trying to dial in on my Overclocks and from what I could tell the X870E would be a good chipset for that
I'm also getting the X870 because it comes with the Microcenter bundle and fits my needs better than the B650E-E which is 50$ less. I wish I could get a B850 but the bundle is 470$ less.
For just gaming B650 is fine. If you have a little bit more you could go for B650E/B850, but there isn't really a reason to get a X870 unless you're running LLM's on a Ryzen 9 9950X3D or something.
