Reading through this thread I highly doubt threadripper makes any sense, especially as you are already on a 13900K. Latest TR has pretty similar single core performance as 13th gen intel, and beyond compiling/exporting most software you use is not particularly multithreaded, not is any of it heavily dependent on memory bandwidth.

I mentioned the Threadripper because, I would be able to upgrade it over the years. The price difference is "only" 700$. Mostly because the watercooling setup for the `Ryzen isn't available for the Threadripper and the MSI Godlike is ridiculous. I would be able to upgrade throughout the year rather than hitting the celling with Ryzen.
