Pros

• I did not get a 3950X out of vanity, that thing still delivers a lot even if it is 'outdated' by AM5 standards.

• I got a used ryzen 9 3950x on ebay for $240 so I can keep the same motherboard.
• i run a 3950x and a 2080ti for all my shit and it does just fine.

Cons

• I doubt a 3950x is really limiting a 7.5 year old GPU, but I’m also not sure how much extra performance you’re going to get out of upgrading the GPU or CPU solo.

• in the event logs, I see an error that says fatal hardware error has occurred and rebooted by component processor core, error source machine check exception. Figured my 7 year old Ryzen 3950x was his dying.
