8400f is about 5-10% faster, but... you won't see any difference between them with this graphics card. On AM5 even a budget b650 motherboard (for example GIGABYTE B650M DS3H) will allow you to upgrade (7700, 7800x3d, 9700x, 9800x3d)
8500g is not faster than the 8400f. The 8500g only has 2 zen 4 cores and 4 zen 4c. The 8400f performs about the same as the 8600g.
The 8400F is heavily cut down from the 7600X let alone anything from the 9000 series.

So I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 7 7700X from a Ryzen 5 8400F, since upgrading my core temp sky rocketed to about 80-90
The 8400f isn’t a really powerful cpu.
For gaming both use about 45W, and under full all core load the 7800X3D maxes out at around 77W where as the 8400F is around 88W. If you unlock the power limit, the 7800X3D will go up to 90W and the 8400F will go up to 105W.
