Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT is positioned as a capable 1080p gaming card, with its 16GB VRAM being its most cited advantage for longevity and memory-intensive titles. While it is praised for handling high settings at 1080p and supporting modern features like Frame Gen, its value proposition is frequently debated. Some users find it slower than older-generation alternatives like the RX 6700 XT and generally unsuitable for 1440p gaming.

Pros

  • 16GB VRAM provides significant headroom for modern games and future-proofing compared to 8GB cards
  • Strong performance for 1080p gaming at high or ultra settings
  • Supports AMD technologies including Frame Gen and modern ray tracing features
  • Good option for VRAM-heavy applications like Microsoft Flight Simulator

Cons

  • Raw performance can be slower than the older RX 6700 XT
  • Generally considered underpowered for stable 1440p gaming
  • Occasional reports of stability issues or crashes requiring manual frequency adjustments
  • Price-to-performance ratio is often criticized compared to used older-gen cards

Caveats

  • The 'XT' designation is critical here, as the non-XT version only carries 8GB of VRAM
  • Performance gains over the base 7600 are primarily in VRAM capacity rather than raw processing power
  • Some users report dissatisfaction with FPS stability in specific titles

Best for

  • 1080p ultra gaming
  • Budget-conscious builds prioritizing VRAM longevity
  • Users who want a new card with a full warranty rather than buying used older-gen hardware

Avoid if

  • You are targeting high-refresh 1440p gaming
  • You can find a used RX 6700 XT or RX 6800 for a similar price
  • You require the absolute best price-to-performance ratio in the $300-$350 range

RTX 4060 or RX 7600 XT around $300-350, both are great 1080p cards and won't bottleneck your i5 at all

Also consider: A bit pricier but with 16gb of vram, AMD technologies are catching up with Nvidia... [RX 7600 XT](https://ebay.us/m/gs1sW2)

Only thing I'd change, is the GPU for a 7600XT with 16Gb, if money allows it, since 8Gb doesn't have as much headroom for the next few years.

The 7600XT is quite old, which could be why it's expensive.
