AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The AMD Radeon RX 570 is widely regarded as a legacy 'ultra-budget' champion for 1080p gaming. While it is increasingly described as 'outdated' or 'showing its age' for modern AAA titles, it remains a popular recommendation for entry-level builds due to its extremely low price on the used market and its ability to handle popular titles like GTA V and CS2 at acceptable frame rates.

Pros

  • Excellent price-to-performance ratio for ultra-budget builds.
  • Capable of running many modern AAA games on low to medium settings.
  • Strong performance in popular older titles and eSports games.
  • The 8GB variant is highly valued over the 4GB model for modern gaming needs.

Cons

  • 4GB VRAM is increasingly insufficient for modern Windows and newer games.
  • Official driver support has shifted to maintenance/security rather than performance enhancements.
  • Often acts as a bottleneck when paired with mid-range modern CPUs.
  • Power requirements may be too high for low-end or 'sketchy' power supplies.

Caveats

  • Official driver updates for performance and new features have largely ceased.
  • Users report mixed results regarding Display Stream Compression (DSC) support on certain hardware revisions.
  • Community-made drivers are sometimes recommended on Windows to bypass outdated official versions.
  • Performance is significantly worse than newer budget alternatives like the RX 580 or RX 590.

Best for

  • Ultra-budget 1080p gaming builds.
  • Playing eSports titles like CS2 and older hits like GTA V.
  • Users comfortable buying from the used market for maximum value.

Avoid if

  • You intend to play modern AAA games at high settings.
  • You require a GPU with long-term official driver feature support.
  • Your power supply is under 400W or of questionable quality.

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 198 days, which is significant for hardware that is already considered legacy.

RX 470, 480, 570, 580 Any of the 4 that OP can get his hands on. Preferably one of the 8GB models. Price/performance they beat anything else as ultra budget cards.

RX 470, RX 570, RX 480, RX 580, GTX 1060 are all somewhat similar in performance, GTX 1650 is also an option, but like 25% worse than the other cards... Still a somewhat decent 1080p Budget Option though.

go for Rx 570 if your budget allows it. For gta 5, I would at least look for 8gb ram. 4gb is too low.

Her current PC is like 9th gen i5, RX 570, 16gigs of ram - nothing to write home about. It's pretty old and subpar for todays' standards.

there's videos out there of GTA V running acceptably, the RX 570 is a decent, cheap choice. But make sure you also get your RAM to at least 8 GB for modern Windows.

the 570 would just be wasted on that athlon and you'd probably run into power issues anyway with that sketchy 324w psu.

Planning to buy it for my pc with i5 4570. from some websites I heard the driver support ended, and from some that it's still getting driver updates. I won't play anything crazy on it, CS2, GTA V and that's it.

rx 570, 4gb version right? it can also come in 8gb and that would definitely be the one to get between them if it is. even if not, i'd go rx570, it can even run the new indiana jones game (in linux). [use the community drivers on windows, better than official which are out of date]

With the exception of some cut down GPUs with very low lane count like the 6500 xt which went from beating an rx 580 to slower than a Rx 570
