I would easily pair an RX 480/580 with that.
Also there also some inexpensive gpus on the used market that would provide a nice boost: gtx 980, 1060 6GB, 1070, 1650, 1660, and RX 480/580.
Start by swapping the GPU for an AMD card. Even something cheap like a used RX 480/580 would be a significant performance upgrade.
From there, you can grab a used GTX 1060/70 or perhaps an RX 480 / 580.
I would use that to my advantage on local marketplaces to trade up to a RX480/580 for ~~$50 (and sell your old GPU for $25)

One thing I forgot to mention, RX 480/580 lacks full VP9 acceleration and predates AV1 entirely.
