24-70 2.8

Pros

• I traded my 24-70 2.8 for the 50mm prime and the 70-200. F/4 for the 135mm with zero regrets.
• The main argument in RF general focal lengths travel zooms is between the 24-70 2.8 and the 24-105 4. The first being the superior quality one with a bit less tele-range
• I would start with r5 mark2. And 24-70 2.8. Splurge option: 24-105 2.8.
• everyone talks about the 24-70 2.8 being the best all around lense.
• The only thing that would be better would be the 24-70 2.8. again the RFs glass being just as good if not better and significantly lighter.

Cons

• the 24-70 2.8 is my next stop - next weeks gig is paying for it!
• Have you lugged around the 24-70 2.8 for extended periods of time? I say yikes. It’s good for an event and such but travel is something else.
• The 50 and 85mm will be as good or better than a 24-70 f/2.8 for that unless you're shooting in a wedding situation where speed and being able to get multiple shots quickly is more important than image quality. Based on your criteria, I'...
• The original 24-70/2.8 is no longer better at this age.
• I’ve had this lens in EF and RF for 15+ years and I always have that fomo for the 24-70 2.8 but this lens has been my trusty companion.
