These apps don’t take that into consideration at all. They are fear lingering and position themselves to sell sponsored brands.

Yeah I don’t trust these apps. You really need people qualified to understand scientific research/chemistry to decipher studies/ingredient lists. Avene is typically regarded as a good skincare company with quality products. And I’ve heard a lot of these “clean beauty” apps have taken bribes from specific companies and given them a “passing” grade on their skincare products.

Yuka is unreliable and doesn’t really inform users if products are actually safe or good.

Those apps are garbage.

The Yuka app is known for misinformation and not respectable in the science community.

Please don’t use those apps, those are scam apps that promote some brands.

Yuka, and “clean” beauty in general is a scam and is just fear mongering and marketing.

Yuka, Think Dirty, INCI Beauty — they'll tell you "niacinamide is great!" and "retinol is effective!" But they don't know that:

honestly i wouldn't build a blacklist from yuka alone because context matters way more than a red flag icon.
