- Idk if it's available in your region, but I'd suggest Yuengling
- Sam Adams Boston Lager, Brooklyn Lager, Yuengling, Dos Equis Ambar, and Negra Modelo are all solid year-round picks that hit that same smooth malty vibe.
- I don't about hype, but Yuengling has always been well-positioned to absorb sales when buyers are fatigued from other beer fads and/or excessive pricing. Better than other American macros for similar money.

And it's not the best beer no matter how you look at it. People that like it are just used to it. Yeungling was the standard years ago at most bars. It was a step above most domestic stuff. But it's just fine. I only drink it if someone else buys one and gives me one.

It has the very distinct smell of tortoise poop, it's especially prevalent when sipping the beer rather than when smelling it directly.
But I dont even drink beer beyond the odd Miller highlife/ yeungling my boyfriend gets or cheap pitchers at the bar
