Yamazaki 12 is about 23,000en on Amazon. Its famous enough to feel a bit flashy and is a good whisky.
Yamazaki 12 is also a big step up over the NAS version in that "classic Dad Whisky" lane. Still not near the "holy shit" level of Yamazaki 18 though. But since I can't afford to buy Yamazaki 18, I'll just have to try not to remember it and enjoy the 12 for what it is: a very well made and satisfying "classic whisky" done with the expected Japanese-y subtlety and restraint. Nothing fancy, nothing showy, just a very well made "this is whisky" balanced profile of orchard fruits, vanilla, baking spices, dry oak and that lovely mizunara incense note.
Also saw Yamazaki 12 for ¥19,800 at a different store. With the exception of bundles this is the lowest I've seen these.

I've found this with my experiences with the new Yamazaki 12, which ended up being much less pleasant than the older ones.
Hakushu and Yamazaki 12, just above the price limit but are pretty much the most well known Japanese single malts for a reason
From Suntory, the Yamazaki was my favorite, followed by the Hakushu.
After having that the Yamazaki doesn't do it for me anymore.
