Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Xiaomi 14T Pro is generally viewed as a high-performance, high-storage value alternative to flagship 'Ultra' models, though it is frequently criticized for software inconsistencies and thermal management. Users praise its fast charging, Leica-branded main camera, and competitive pricing for 512GB configurations. However, the experience is often marred by HyperOS bugs—specifically refresh rate locking—and significant heating during camera use or gaming, which negatively impacts battery longevity.

Pros

  • Excellent value for high storage capacities (512GB models)
  • Fast charging speeds and high-end CPU performance
  • Strong main camera performance with Leica optics
  • Competitive pricing compared to mainstream flagship competitors

Cons

  • Frequent heating issues during camera use and heavy tasks
  • Software bugs in HyperOS, including refresh rates locking at 60Hz or 120Hz
  • Noticeable battery drain under moderate to heavy load
  • Presence of system bloatware and ads

Caveats

  • The 144Hz display is reportedly restricted by 'optimization' software that often prevents it from reaching its full refresh rate in many apps
  • While the main camera is well-regarded, the ultrawide and telephoto lenses receive mixed reviews for quality and AI processing artifacts
  • Some users report concerns regarding long-term software support and quality control

Best for

  • Users seeking flagship-level storage and charging at a lower price point
  • Mobile photographers who primarily use the main wide-angle sensor

Avoid if

  • You are sensitive to UI bloatware or non-stock Android skins
  • You require a device that stays cool during extended video recording
  • You want a consistent high-refresh-rate gaming experience without software workarounds

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~433 days), which may affect relevance for this fast-changing smartphone category.

Also take a look at the Xiaomi 14t pro it really looks Kickass. If you can get it for the same or slightly less than the 16e it would be a great choice.

I returned it. Maybe I had too much expectations and the heating and battery got me a little frustrated.

Had a 14T Pro for a month including my holidays and loved the camera, it is amazing for the price, I have some great pics and videos even in some bad conditions with the sun or night ones, but didn't love the heating, just by using the camera itself for some minutes or some apps, and that really notices in the battery percentage.

Xiaomi 14T Pro → The main camera seems excellent, but the telephoto has some AI “bloom” issues, and the ultrawide reportedly isn’t great. Still, I actually liked the results in-store.

I think I'm going xiaomi 14t pro. Better storage, better cpu, better cameras, way faster charging speeds, arguably better display.
