AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Xiaomi 14 is generally praised as a powerful compact flagship, particularly for its Leica-tuned camera system and pocket-friendly design. While many users appreciate its premium build and fast charging, there is significant criticism regarding its battery endurance and thermal management during intensive tasks.

Pros

  • Leica-tuned camera system with a unique 'vintage' film aesthetic
  • Compact and pocket-friendly flagship form factor
  • Fast 90W wired charging capabilities
  • Floating lens technology enables high-quality macro photography
  • High-resolution 50MP RAW shooting capability on the main sensor

Cons

  • Inconsistent battery life with several reports of low screen-on time (5-7 hours)
  • Thermal issues and overheating during gaming due to the small chassis
  • Reports of a lens fogging issue that some users claim is unacknowledged

Caveats

  • Battery performance is a major point of contention; while some find it sufficient, others describe it as 'terrible' even with light use.
  • The evidence for this device is older (median age ~437 days), which may impact its standing compared to more recent flagship releases.

Best for

  • Users seeking a high-end 'small' phone that fits easily in one hand
  • Photography enthusiasts who prefer Leica's specific color science and processing

Avoid if

  • You are a heavy mobile gamer who requires sustained performance without overheating
  • You need a 'two-day' battery or high screen-on time for long workdays

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age ~437 days), and for a fast-changing product like a smartphone, this may not reflect the current software state or newer competition.

The Xiaomi's look perfect! I think the 15t might be a bit out of my price range but the 14 and 13 look really good.

Xiaomi 14 also can shoot full resolution 50 MP raw but only with the main.

Skip the Xiaomi 14: You read correctly about the battery drain. It's a smaller phone, which means a smaller battery and less space to cool down. It’s going to get hot while gaming, which is exactly what you want to avoid.

I have been using a xiaomi 14. Is the one plus 15r better than it? My current phone has only one issue. It's battery has become weak. I get max 6-7 hours of sot.

I'm actually using a Xiaomi 14 right now, and even though it has the same processor and specs-wise 'better' cameras, the S24 generally felt better for video. ... My only issue was battery—I maxed out at around 5 hours of SOT no matter how light my usage was. ... my Xiaomi 14 has terrible battery life too lol.

As a best overall package, I would take Xiaomi 14. Cameras are excellent but it is also the most "flagship" of your listed choices. The battery life is longer then your other options but the phone is very small, pocket-sized.

Out of all those phones xiaomi 14 is definitely the best one with good camera, and eerything else. The battery might be a bit "bad" but it shoild be enoughfor your usage.

He can very well score a Xiaomi 14 on the used market, for that price if he takes a good look.

The cameras are significantly better than on my previous Pixel 6 and Xiaomi 14.

Had OnePlus for 5 years then switched to Xiaomi 14 last year. Best phones I've ever owned. Don't really see the bugs or software issues that people constantly complain about.
