Pros
- as soon as I lost the meaning I'd open wordreference on my phone and use a pencil so I could write the word in English over the word in French
- You can look up words on WordReference or Wiktionnaire to hear native recordings.
- While digital dictionaries and apps like WordReference and DeepL have largely replaced physical dictionaries for most language learners, some students and educators still prefer them
- Then after the chapter I open up wordreference and see if I’m right. Sometimes the whole chapter changes because I misinterpreted a couple words
- Word Reference had another saying that’s similar to English , “you drive me up a wall”. This one was just kind of a gem: “sacar alguien de sus casillas”
Cons
- It’s Portuguese only, but has lots of good examples and is more in-depth than a lot of the Portuguese-English dictionaries out there like WordReference and Linguee.
- I'm wondering if something like this would exist, not as a translator but a dictionary of phrases, much like WordReference, but with word-to-word mappings and breakdown steps.
- It is better and more reliable than any other dictionary I know because it provides all words you are after but differentiates them dependent on their context and explains why, allowing for more accurate usage, compared to WordReference...
- WordReference
- My best friend wordreference didn’t have a translation for this and I was wondering what would be the closest equivalent to this in French.

Would strongly recommend wordreference for single word translations puts it into context well and gives multiple definitions and different ways a word is used
I'm wondering if something like this would exist, not as a translator but a dictionary of phrases, much like WordReference, but with word-to-word mappings and breakdown steps.
It is better and more reliable than any other dictionary I know because it provides all words you are after but differentiates them dependent on their context and explains why, allowing for more accurate usage, compared to WordReference where it was lacking in that regard.
