Parent context: it does! if you click 曷, you will be able to see it's two parts (日、匃), then split 匃 even down further. Pleco seperates just one radical at a time for some reason! Reply: (1) The component character in 曷 is 曰, not 日 (2) Pleco only goes down "one level" because that is how Phono-Semantic Decomposition works, otherwise you would end up decomposing until you got to meaningless strokes.

I tried to write a character...with one stroke! And Pleco got it right frmo first try!! If there's one thing that proves how excellent Pleco is, this has to be!
Pleco my bro, on my phone, will let me completely butcher it, speedrun a character in one second with strokes all over the place, and still nearly always get it right on first try;
