Pros

  • the weber does it all, and there's not a need to have more than 2 or 3 grills at a time.
  • Weber has good design, but part price/quality is on par or worse than chinesium.
  • Weber is solid, but their strength is in their indestructible charcoal grills.
  • I have been using webers since 1973 You can go low and slow by the amount and layout of your charcoal. It is a classic elegant design, and not expensive
  • Weber makes one.

Cons

  • Parent context: It was my starter smoker 7-ish years ago, and it it still serves me well. Through a mistake of my own making I broke the heating element, but found that it was an easy replacement. It's simple enough that it's easy to rep...
  • I do mostly these Mid range Weber and Napoleon grills. Priced around 800-2500$
  • HB predates Weber by a decade and nothing they do even looks like a kettle.
  • I do snake method on a weber and it takes me about 13 hours to get to 203 and be able to slide the bone out after a 2 hour rest.
  • The heating element on my Recteq and your Weber are at the bottom of the grill and convect up. These devices are meant to cook from the bottom.

Parent context: It was my starter smoker 7-ish years ago, and it it still serves me well. Through a mistake of my own making I broke the heating element, but found that it was an easy replacement. It's simple enough that it's easy to repair, and spare parts are easy to find. Reply: This. But make sure the vents operate as they should and the lid fits properly (the bottom vent/ cleaner can be replaced if kettle isn't rusted out) . My kid ran into mine, knocking it over now both the top and bottom are out of round and don't seal well. Lack of seal has made it difficult to hold a temp.
