Pros

• WD has lubricants. It's perfectly fine for light duty applications like a door hinge.

• My oils of choice have always been WD-40 for general purpose and cleaning
• Dump a few gallons of Evaporust in there, let it sit overnight, drain, dry, and wipe down with oil or WD-40. Good to go.
• For this though? Spray with wd-40. And go easy on the drying, leaving it properly dry will have it rusting again in minutes - just spray with wd-40 while still damp (the wd stands for “water dispersant” after all)

Cons

• Parent context: WD-40 is not a lubricant Reply: Yes it is. It has oil in it. It's not the best lube for any and all situations, but it most certainly is a lube.
• It's the jack of all, master of none product. There are better penetrants, protectants, water displacers, and lubes, but WD is the product you can throw under your sink that'll do everything well enough for general purpose needs.
• Wd40 works well for cleaning the hinge prior to greasing it though, if its particularly dirty
