TRX Suspension Training
Reddit take
Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.
Pros
- I like TRX for isolation exercises like curls and tricep extensions because the handles can rotate which makes them more comfortable.
- Horizontal pulls (ring/TRX/table rows) are easier to adapt than strict pull-ups.
- The best way to do rows, especially as a beginner is with rings or a suspension trainer like a TRX.
- Get a set of TRX (if allowed here. Idk?).
- TRX also work if you can get them high up enough. Your reps will likely drop, but you’ll work some additional stabilisers.
Cons
- My knee jerk reaction is anti-TRX, but that's only because their $200+ system can be mostly replicated with $10 worth of truck tie downs and PVC.
- To be brutally honest with you, I think this TRX company and their products are sus af. ... why would a well-meaning business come up with a product that is basically just a subpar version of an established piece of equipment that people...
- Both of those are inferior to gymnastic rings. The benefits of TRX that people commonly mention online can be achieved for far far cheaper and far better just by swapping the rings with any other type of handle e.g., a 'D' handle.
- In my experience (I have both) the main difference is TRX have a fixed anchor point so the straps come from the same point. This makes it harder to not have your arms resting on the straps and you lose some of the stability training you...
- Other than the handle shape, TRX isn’t as adjustable. The shortest you can set it is at the carabiner point in the middle of the strap. My TRX comes with a door jam thing, which is nice.

I also used to do bodyweight face-pulls on a TRX (3 × 8), but I tweaked something in my lower arm, so I’ve backed off those for now.
