Pros
- If you’re willing to spent a little more, entry level Tissot watches are about $300 or $400. They’re great and look classic.
- A lot to choose from. Some reliable, accurate, decently finished movements and tons of history and relevance within the overall history of the watch
- I’ve seen tissot and seiko be suggested a lot.
- Some popular entry brands are Timex, Seiko, Orient, Hamilton, Tissot, but there are plenty more
- 5. Tissot - a respectable Swiss brand that has watches that slot into the sub-$500 category
Cons
- It appears that every starting/budget-conscious collector is told to add Timex, Seiko, Tissot, Hamilton, Orient watches to their watch box.
- Started with quite a few Tissots

Tissot’s are great for the price, you can also try and go with a microbrand but that’ll set you up a bit more than 250 and it’s a loophole from there.
It appears that every starting/budget-conscious collector is told to add Timex, Seiko, Tissot, Hamilton, Orient watches to their watch box.
If you’re not looking to spend too much and want something with good value for money in a reasonable price range, Hamilton or Tissot are solid choices.
Good value: Tissot, Hamilton ("This is enough")
