Pros

  • I have a tiger lotus bulb that I'm desperately trying to get to sprout, they are one of my favorites
  • Tiger lotus are really cool like that. They also grow very quickly.
  • after they are established they are incredibly hardy plants and will reproduce by growing more offshoots of bulbs to the side of it over time.
  • Just gotta say how much I love Tiger Lotus. What an incredibly hardy, versatile and easy to grow plant! I have 3 in my 40g and they all have a unique style. I'm about 9 months in to keeping planted tanks and lotus has been the easiest to...
  • A tiger lotus would give that same pop or red without the risks! Forgot about that plant. And I personally think it would look amazing in that setup!

Cons

  • this makes me miss my old tiger lotus. it was growing beautifully until my snails decided it was a tasty snack and ate it down to the bulb. every time it starts to grow back, they eat it again
  • The tiger lilies in the front are only a couple of months old. They grow pretty fast. In the past I’ve had trouble with them melting, but these are fine. They were supposed to be “miniature” but they are growing big.

Just gotta say how much I love Tiger Lotus. What an incredibly hardy, versatile and easy to grow plant! I have 3 in my 40g and they all have a unique style. I'm about 9 months in to keeping planted tanks and lotus has been the easiest to care for from day one.

This one is a tiger lotus. It tends to get red sometimes which can be nice, but this one stays mostly green.

Mine grow like crazy, I recently added CO2 and that's certainly made them grow faster, but they still grew well enough that my one plant turned into three without it.
