Pros

  • Was going to mention that if you don’t mind larger dry contact sensors , the third reality with rechargeable AA are great. I have 2 level switches in my garage door and I think they have been there over 3 years and still report 100 % ba...
  • Third Reality and Ikea have devices that use AA and AAAs.
  • On the zigbee side, Third Reality and Sonoff have decent smart plugs for a reasonable price.
  • for ones that don't get triggered much I really like Third Reality. Zigbee only, but they work well.
  • One brand I've come to love for sensors is Third Reality. Their zigbee implementation is spot on and I love that they tend to use AA or AAA batteries and avoid using more expensive coin cell batteries.

Cons

  • I tried third reality and they were trash, terrible colors.
  • I learned that i should not use consumer Smart Plugs (Like Tapo, THIRDREALITY, etc) because of inductive loads of the related motors.
  • Third Reality might work, but necessarily covers up the physical switch. That should be fine most of the time, but could be a pain if the remote fails for some reason.

I bought some ThirdReality bulbs as they are cheaper than Hue, I'm just starting with my automation process... For now I think I can cheap out on bulbs until I want to take the next step.

now I'd at ThirdReality has rightfully taken over that spot. Good color quality, reliable zigbee bulbs.

And for those not wanting to overengineer things, ThirdReality has a zigbee-based solution that works off the shelf and is surprisingly affordable.
