Pros

  • Things 3. I’ve stuck with it for 8 years now, and tried dozens before and since. It’s the smoothest I’ve ever used, has a one-time price instead of subscription, and syncs beautifully between macOS and iOS.
  • But I have a lot of bigger projects and find that Things 3 is a little more robust and capable of managing all that. It’s not feature-bloated like some, but it gives a little more structure and a few more tools than Reminders.
  • I agree, except that I recommend Things 3 over Reminders. It honestly feels more like a native Apple app than Reminders does.
  • I use Things 3 for my todo list and I've found I'm _far_ more efficient when I have very few things (in that 3-5 range) on my Today list.
  • Choose a theme. It’s important, because many themes create a new Obsidian experience. Try different ones. I prefer “Things 3” with some custom enhancements

Time-based items go in Reminders or Things 3 - depends on the reminder.
