Pros
- Also as messenger, Telegram is great.
- Former - look for the hosted solutions. Discord or Telegram could cover it to some extent
- Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp + in-person meetings. I never use a computer for work.

Seriously, don't let kids use Whatsapp (or other similar apps such as Telegram). It's never used just to communicate with family and friends.

Telegram: decent, similar to whatsapp
I was noticing that while trying to message people on telegram with wifi on it would sit and struggle to send, sometimes taking like 30 seconds to actually send anything.
People do far worse here with Telegram. It's just another risky low cost option, not unlike some of the fly-by-night businesses offering lifetime plans we see being sold here.
Why would carriers even bother when the majority of their customers are using WhatsApp, Telegram, or other similar services?
