Pros

  • Parent context: Wait till you see oled bro 😎 cause even at the Dolby theater I can still see the limits of the contrast coming from a LG at home Reply: no offense but this is a goofy ass take. I only own oleds but even i can admit how f...
  • Mostly summed up as: More dimming zones. Better processor. DV2 coming.
  • So QM8L is SQD, and therefore has better color saturation, a better processor for upscaling, will get DV2, and has 4 hdmi 2.1 ports.
  • I’m in the same boat as OP, and with QM8L’s feature set, I’m going QM8L.
  • I have a QM8L 98' in a bright room and the picture is incredible!!

Cons

  • Parent context: This is how every TCL mini LED looks, it's not ever going to get fixed by an update. Reply: It depends on how long you have to return it. It's a great TV minus this issue.
  • I had many people reach out to be about similar issues that are past their return windows and are very upset. ... This is Silo season 3 episode 6 at the 18:55 mark (21:30 on the mac app). The second screenshot is on my m4 macbook pro. Th...
  • There is a substantial price jump to the 8ML and it doesn’t seem worth the disproportionate price diff for most sizes
  • But maaaaan, "no smearing" is wild, IDK what your other points of reference are. It's OK for any tech to have flaws, glazing just confuses everybody.

I only own oleds but even i can admit how fuckin near perfect this looks. and then you see how bright it gets too and its just clearly a better choice for 85-90% of users.

It's not really the finish of the TCL QM8L ( although it could be helping?) it's just the sheer brightness. ... It looks perfect now no matter the weather. I also got it because I wanted to go up from 65 to 75 and because it has 4 Hdmi 2.1 inputs, plus it will get Dolby Vision 2 this fall and has the next gen tuner. I really love this tv.

I got a 75 inch QM8L and I must say it's the best TV I ever owned and it replaced a Sony Bravia S95L that won the shootout two years in a row.

I'd go for the TCL QM8L. I say that as someone who owned a QM8L (returned it for a Hisense UR9) and a C5.

I have the qm8l 85 inch and it's awesome. Unless the room is pitch black it will be hard to tell the difference. I keep watching Dolby Vision hdr videos on YouTube and am constantly amazed at the deep blacks.

Colors are great. Blacks are black, no blooming they I can see. Very dynamic and the QM8L is fast enough refresh to be computer monitor (144hz @ 4k). No tearing or artifacts. Great TV for the money.
