And DAMN this tv is amazing. Sports in SDR sucked at first with ghost balls, but just turning off motion stuff and now its flawless. I cant get enough of it.
I think the QM851G with the current firmware is an ideal TV
As someone who owns both a 2023 Hisense U7K and a 2024 TCL QM851G...updated to the 2025 firmware.... so essentially the same tv just not quite as good viewing angles.....get the Sony. Sure the TCL gets brighter and has deeper blacks. Other than that the Sony will give you more enjoyment. It's taken me nearly a year of tinkering with picture settings on my TCL to get it how I want and there are still times when the processor lets me down by over brightening one part of the screen and over darkening another.
The qm851g still holds up but from what I've read it doesn't have as good of viewing angles as the 8k so you'll notice blooming a lot sooner as you move off axis.
No amount of tweaking can get the color on my TCL to look the way I want in game mode. I'm not a competitive gamer so ideally I'd just game in another mode like PC or Standard but the other modes drastically change the HDR tone mapping....it's ridiculous.
