Tauri

Pros

• Tauri mainly beats Electron on size, resource usage, and security model.
• Built with Tauri
• good sir i would like to introduce you to our lord and savior tauri
• Tauri, It’s a pretty cheap one on Amazon but they fit and work well
• If had enough time I would have experimented with Tauri; I'm really fascinated by the phase they are advancing.

Cons

• Supporting all the different web views & all the different versions is maddening, I’m looking to switch to the Tauri version that uses the chromium embedded framework as soon as it’s properly released and am expecting a bunch of problems...
• Tauri requires you to know Rust when working with some backend bindings, like let's say access to the filesystem. Or any nodejs package that only worked on the server would require it to be Rust. That's a barrier for most people I assume.
• Tauri isn’t just better at everything anyway. The ecosystem is worse, plugin support is worse, and it’s newer, meaning none of it is as battle tested as electron.
• If this was a hobby project I'd recommended that you take a shot with Tauri since it really has great advantages size wise and performance wise, but for a real project I'd still avoid it.
• For example I was making a menubar app using both Tauri and Electron and Tauri was really a pain because it didn't have much support at the time.
