Tarptent Aeon Li

Pros

• I’ve done a couple of thru hikes with a Tarptent Aeon Li, and I’m 6’2”. Pretty comfortable and very light
• I know I want to upgrade my shelter. I have been considering a used Tarptent Aeon Li.
• The aeon has more options for controlling ventilation and breathes somewhat better but both a pretty good. The aeon has a smaller total footprint and can be pitched without the vestibule to squeeze into terrible spots if you really need to.
• The tent is very quick and easy to pitch. Has a very small footprint with short guy lines. Has good headroom for a single pole tent. It has good ventilation for moisture control. It has been quite stable in windy conditions.
• My Aeon li has done very well in strong wind. Had a gale wind on the coast with it and it stood like a rock with a low pitch. Pyramids do wel in high wind and the corner struts seem to add stability.

Cons

• I wouldn’t recommend the TarpTent Aeon Li for a tall man. Let me be clear: TarpTent is AMAZING, and I’ve put 3000+ miles in this, but it would be too small. ... You would be so cramped.
• The Aeon was no good for me - it's a very tight interior, and I'm only 177 cm (just under 5'10"). I'd do the Plex Solo before I did the Aeon Li
• I hiked with two girls with Aeon Lis and both told me they liked it but wished they had gotten the plex instead because of the struts and packing up each morning was a bit annoying without any significant benefits.
• I decided on the Aeon Li mainly on smaller pitch size although I am a bit concerned about packability due to the carbon struts. ... I like the ventilation and raising of the edges on the Aeon Li
• With a single door on the Aeon it got pretty toasty inside... I found the setup was quicker [on the Xmid] because there were no corner strut systems to fuss with.
