AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Tank 300 is highly regarded by owners in the UAE as a rugged and capable 4x4 that balances off-road performance with urban comfort. Many users consider it a value-driven alternative to the Jeep Wrangler, praising its inclusion of off-road features like differential locks and its comfortable interior. While its fuel economy is frequently cited as a drawback, the vehicle is well-received for its reliability, solid warranty offerings, and professional service through local distributors.

Pros

  • Strong off-road capability with 4x4 systems and differential locks comparable to higher-end rugged SUVs
  • High level of interior comfort and a smooth driving experience for a body-on-frame vehicle
  • Excellent value for money, often including comprehensive service packages and long-term warranties
  • Equipped with proper recovery points, making it more suitable for sand driving than many other Chinese SUVs
  • Rugged, 'solid' aesthetic that appeals to fans of traditional off-roaders

Cons

  • Poor fuel economy, with owners reporting approximately 12-13L/100km during routine highway driving
  • Higher price point compared to smaller off-roaders like the Suzuki Jimny
  • Subjective exterior styling that may not appeal to all buyers

Caveats

  • Limited to a 5-seat configuration; those requiring more space are often directed to the Tank 500 or Haval H9
  • As a Chinese brand, it faces some general market skepticism despite positive owner reports

Best for

  • Off-road enthusiasts looking for a capable 4x4 without the 'overpriced' tag of traditional brands
  • Drivers who want a rugged-looking vehicle that remains comfortable for daily urban use
  • Buyers in the UAE market looking for strong local dealer support and service packages

Avoid if

  • Fuel efficiency is a primary concern for your daily commute
  • You require a 7-seater vehicle for large families
  • You have a strict preference for established non-Chinese automotive brands

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 379 days, which may not reflect the very latest model year updates or current market pricing.

I test drove both Tank 300 - petrol and hybrid, G700. Although I liked G700 more, the price range for me was just not making sense

Just look at the Australians using it, it's insanely capable and there's a large active group of tank 300, 500 & 700 in the UAE.

Tank 300 is your quintessential FJ/Prado alternative. the petrol only comes with the ZF 8HP transmission! and major mod support already exists.

Own one, pretty good I'd say. I wouldn't compare it to a Japanese ac cause those things run on magic but you'd have 0 trouble with the tanks AC. I've done days where I drove 9 hours (2 + 2 hours driving to sweihan and 3-4 hours of desert driving + food stops) and the AC is ice cold.
