Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • If it is possible turn both keys independently when you insert them you can use smarts locks like nuki, switchbot or the like.
  • Parent context: Do you have a double track like in the picture? I don’t know how "fat" the switchbot is. I fear it might be crammed. Reply: Similar - not joined as one solid piece like that, but a similar width apart maybe a little more...
  • I looked at multiple solutions and still haven’t found a retrofit option better than Switchbot. I just ordered a bunch more of them to cover the rest of the house.
  • Keep your dumb one and get a switchbot.
  • I have a gas fireplace with a Switchbot connected to it

Cons

  • ❌ Switchbot, key turner
  • I’ve got a love hate relationship with SwitchBot.
  • I thought switchbot had something like that. Not sure.
  • Switchbot is still cheaper... But their customer service is atrocious
  • I think there isn't an easy way to install it in my case, in case I'll try with a switchbot that imitates the pressing finger... in theory it should have a timer like press for 40 seconds

Reply: Similar - not joined as one solid piece like that, but a similar width apart maybe a little more that that, I only have switchbot on the inner track with the heavy curtains - I haven’t bothered to automate the sheer curtains behind them.

Yes, I second this. This is probably the best way to do it. It works for me.
