AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The SVS PB-1000 Pro is widely considered a transformative upgrade for home theater enthusiasts, particularly those moving from entry-level subwoofers. It is frequently praised for its deep bass extension, high output at low frequencies, and the convenience of its dedicated tuning app. While a single unit is often described as powerful enough to shake a room, a common sentiment among users is the recommendation to run dual units for more consistent room coverage and even greater output.

Pros

  • Significant performance leap over entry-level brands like Polk, Klipsch, and Jamo
  • Excellent low-frequency extension and output, especially below 40Hz
  • Convenient app-based control for on-the-fly tuning and level adjustments
  • Relatively compact footprint for a ported subwoofer of its capability
  • Strong value proposition, particularly when found at sale prices

Cons

  • A single unit may feel insufficient for users seeking maximum 'robustness' in larger spaces
  • Ported design is physically larger and potentially less 'musical' than its sealed (SB) counterpart

Caveats

  • Users frequently suggest that 'dual PB-1000 Pros' are the ideal configuration for most home theaters
  • The PB (ported) version is specifically optimized for movie extension; those prioritizing music may still consider the SB (sealed) version

Best for

  • Home theater setups where deep bass and movie impact are priorities
  • Users upgrading from budget-tier subwoofers
  • Small to medium-sized rooms where app-based calibration is useful

Avoid if

  • You have a very large open-concept space that requires a much larger driver or higher-tier model
  • You strictly prefer the tighter, faster response of a sealed subwoofer for music

More recently I upgraded my LCR stage, and got a killer deal on a 2nd Subwoofer so now I run a pair of PB-1000 Pros.

Personally I run a pair of SVS PB 1000 Pros. These are overkill for my room, but I was not happy with how a lone subwoofer was sounding in my basement and managed to find a 2nd PB 1000 Pro for a really good deal at my local home theater store last weekend so it was a natural upgrade.

I like how I can tune it in the app and adjust the level on the fly without messing with my AVR.

I upgraded from a r-10sw to a PB 1000 Pro a few years back and it was a significant upgrade.

They will be a dramatic upgrade, but for that size of room you might find dual PB-1000 Pro is enough.
