Suze is very particular even among the gentian liqueurs , it manages to have some sort of "freshness" and yes, "sweetness" balancing the bitterness in a manner that neither salers (the biggest competitor to suze in the french market for gentiane liqueur) or other italian gentiane liqueurs from italy have.
