AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Supergoop! is a polarizing sunscreen brand frequently discussed for its cosmetically elegant formulas that often double as makeup primers. While many users praise its unique textures and skin-tint options, others criticize the brand for its high price point and reliance on US-approved UV filters, which some enthusiasts consider inferior to international alternatives.

Pros

  • Primer-like texture that sits well under makeup
  • Minimal migration, making it suitable for use around the eyes
  • Pleasant skin feel and available in tinted versions
  • Widely recommended by US-based dermatologists

Cons

  • High price point compared to other effective sunscreens
  • Can cause increased oiliness for some skin types
  • Potential to cause breakouts or leave dry flecks
  • Uses US UV filters which are viewed as less advanced by some users

Caveats

  • Individual skin reactions vary, with some users reporting breakouts despite the brand's popularity.
  • The 'sticky' texture that prevents migration may feel too heavy for those preferring watery formulas.

Best for

  • Users looking for a sunscreen that functions as a makeup primer
  • People who need an SPF that stays in place and won't sting eyes

Avoid if

  • You are on a budget and prefer affordable drugstore alternatives
  • You prefer international UV filters over US-standard ingredients
  • You have very oily or acne-prone skin

supergoop was actually a great product, but I weaned off it since it was making me oilier, but it felt so nice on my skin as an spf skin tint

US dermatologists and bloggers that keep recommending US sunscreen when everywhere else in the world has better filters. Most people that care enough to watch a dermatology video or see one in person have the capability to order something online so why not tell them what the actual best products/ingredients are instead of just pushing Neutrogena and Supergoop!!

I would avoid supergoop or traditional cosmetic sunscreens.

I’m currently using Beauty of Joseon mineral tinted sunscreen and was hoping I could try combining that with Supergoop just under my eyes since I‘ve heard it’s stickier and migrates less.

I've tried a variety of sunscreens - Centella, different kinds of Supergoop, Coola, DRMTLGY, La Roche Posay. The sunscreens have ranged from watery to thick.

I've been using it for a few months now, I was using Supergoop prior. The Ordinary has a more "lotion-y" feel too it, the Supergoop was more like a primer. I liked the texture of the Supergoop better but its just too pricey

Supergoop is supposedly very good but quite expensive.

I tried Supergoop but for some reason was also leaving dry flecks and broke me out a bit.

I use a Supergoop but there's an Aveeno baby mineral sunscreen that's relatively widely available and affordable (in the US) I've also used and liked.
