The entire series is filled with moments where Hadrian’s narrative includes vague references to what will happen, all the while building to when Hadrian finally destroys that star in the seventh book… It should fit the ask.
I would try the Sun Eater Series. Although the first page may make it seem like the protagonist isn't a good person, the protagonist is a genuinely good guy who is fighting for the best of the universe, but struggles with some of the bad things that occur from him fighting the best he can.
Parent context: I genuinely do not understand how anyone can read this series and come away saying it’s Christian propaganda. The main character is utterly dismissive of every organized religion he encounters for the entirety of the story’s page count - if a character existing as a messianic figure is all it takes, I’m terrified of the shitstorm when people discover WoT or Sanderson outside of Stormlight. Reply: Have you read the entire series? Because it definitely gets preachy in the later books (and one short story) and not because he’s a messianic figure
It does, but your mileage will vary. For some, it's differentiated enough from real world religions that it's mostly fine. For me though it was constantly distracting in the last book. When this man is pulling out literal quotations from the bible and also diving into very, very well-trod Christian themes I found myself pretty much unable to get immersed and was totally distracted.

The chapter I just read took a break to deliver an extremely thinly pro-life argument. It didn't last long but man was it hamfisted.

Does it get better after book 1? I just finished Empire of Silence and felt like it was a long time coming to zero conclusion. I’m not really compelled by any of the characters. I always see it recommended but I’m not really eager to start the next one. Most of the time it felt like a less interesting version of Red Rising with way more whining.
