Pros

  • But idc how RNG or quarterbacky this game is, we ALWAYS love playing this. It's so cozy, on theme, and we just love to see if we can win.
  • It’s very on theme. Also very challenging. I enjoyed.
  • As a SDV outsider, it's a pretty and challenging game. It's sort of cool and the crop/water mechanic is clever. I think it's cool.
  • Stardew valley the board game is basically how I play the video game. The board game very much seems to be in the style of min maxers and community centre completed by start of winter.
  • The board game is surprising quite like the video game. There’s a lot of pieces and moving parts. It’s a lot to learn at first, but worth it. It’s cooperative, so you work together, which is nice. You farm, fish, mine, collect resources...

Cons

  • Honest thoughts: A game purchase has never made me angry… except this one. Playing it filled me with resentment for the design.
  • Pass on it. It's an okay game I guess, it's just not fun.
  • I found it dull because of the repetitious nature of the in-play loops you often need to do, and also that the paths in the game (variability) isn’t terribly interesting. It’s cute, and looks approachable, but it’s actually quite difficu...
  • This game is not worth it. It has terrible RNG, and each season can be easily solved/quarter backed.
  • However, the board game mechanics can be tedious and very RNG heavy. You may find yourself later in the game just repeating actions trying to fill a niche result. It’s not a perfectly balanced game and some “challenges” are far easier to...

I found it dull because of the repetitious nature of the in-play loops you often need to do, and also that the paths in the game (variability) isn’t terribly interesting. It’s cute, and looks approachable, but it’s actually quite difficult to win.

However, the board game mechanics can be tedious and very RNG heavy. You may find yourself later in the game just repeating actions trying to fill a niche result. It’s not a perfectly balanced game and some “challenges” are far easier to complete than others. Personally I really enjoy it and would recommend it to a Stardew fan, I would not recommend it to a board game fan who was not a Stardew fan.

Takes 20 minutes to setup and the friends deck is the only thing that decides the game, no interesting decisions because you just do the actions for your tool every turn
