Best Buy and the Sony web site are currently running a deep sale on the Sony HT-A5000 5.1.2 soundbar. Normally priced at $999 and at the moment on sale for $499. I know that bumps the top of your budget, but if the sound quality is there then it will be a steal.

Although I do see what they mean, if I were you I would rather save up a little more and look for something with a seperate woofer(that would make a big improvement), something like the q800 series.

In my personal experience, in the same segment Sony >> Samsung when it comes to home theatre audio Go for it, the A3000 is nice so the 5000 must be even better.
I think you'll be underwhelmed. The Sony performs better at max volume, but unless you're turning your bar up above 90%, that doesn't matter. The Sony can't play any lower than the Samsung, and while it does have height channels, they aren't very good, so I doubt you'll be impressed. I don't think it's going to be *worse*, but I don't think it's worth spending money to swap out what you have.
