Sonos Arc Ultra
Reddit take

The Sonos Arc Ultra is highly regarded as a premium, modular soundbar that excels in sound clarity and music performance. While it offers surprisingly powerful bass as a standalone unit, users frequently emphasize that its full potential is unlocked when paired with a Sonos Sub and Era 300 surrounds. However, its high price point and lack of support for DTS/DTS:X formats are significant sticking points for home theater enthusiasts, many of whom suggest Samsung's flagship bars as a more cost-effective alternative.
Pros
- Powerful bass performance even without an external subwoofer
- Excellent sound clarity and a 'fuller' audio profile compared to the original Arc
- Top-notch performance for music playback
- Seamless integration into the Sonos modular ecosystem, allowing for easy expansion
- High build quality and aesthetic appeal suitable for long-term use
Cons
- Lack of support for DTS and DTS:X audio formats
- High total cost of ownership, especially when adding rears and subwoofers
- Perceived as overpriced compared to competitors like the Samsung Q990 series
Caveats
- The standalone bar may feel underwhelming or 'overkill' depending on room size and whether additional components are used
- Some enthusiasts prefer the Sony Quad system for a wider soundstage and better overall performance
- Full surround capabilities (9.1.2) are limited by the lack of certain high-end codecs
Best for
- Existing Sonos ecosystem users
- Those seeking a high-quality standalone bar with a simple setup
- Users who prioritize music performance alongside home theater use
Avoid if
- DTS or DTS:X support is a requirement for your physical media collection
- You are looking for the best price-to-performance ratio in a complete package
- You want a full surround system without the high cost of modular add-ons

Currently eyeing the Sonos Arc Ultra, but is there anything out there that beats it at this price point?
Arc Ultra, Era 100 and Sub 4 I tried at a shop.
I have a Sonos Arc Ultra stand alone. No sub no rears. and it love it for simplicity and sound for movies. The bass sounds surprisingly very powerful for a soundbar and its does a decent job stepping into the room a bit (virtual surround effects). I would recommend it.
