Pros

  • Sofirn ST10 has a Red mode. 3lm.
  • It would be nice to use whatever light you wanted, but have you considered just going with an actual clip light like the Sofirn ST10... The Sofirn takes a standard 14500 battery, that would be my choice.
  • This Sofirn has a replaceable 14500 battery and two magnets - one on the back and also the tail cap has a strong magnet.
  • I've just bought an ST10 and it does all the things you need. Build quality is solid and I have it in my vehicle for emergencies. I can't comment on the 'redness' of it, but it has three red modes; constant, blinking and SOS I think
  • Correction - There is a blink setting for the red emitter in the ST10. And yes, it is a very deep red.

Cons

  • Just be aware that lights like that are not rechargeable per se; the charging port is on the battery itself, not the flashlight. This means that you have to unscrew the cap and remove the battery each time you charge it. This is not a bi...
  • The only real negative is the side flood light could be a bit brighter I suppose, and the tint isn't ideal for the hobbyists, but it's perfectly acceptable for someone who just wants a solid versatile light.

Just be aware that lights like that are not rechargeable per se; the charging port is on the battery itself, not the flashlight. This means that you have to unscrew the cap and remove the battery each time you charge it. This is not a big deal on an EDC light, but I don't know if I would want a work light that charged that way.

This is what the ST10 excels at. Bring a spare eneloop with you in case you run the li-on dry. It's perfect for this. I have one and the Red is deep and bright, even with eneloop. Build quality is excellent and it can take a beating. Plenty bright enough for what is built for, and the clip holds like really well. Magnets are totally useful.

I'm hovering around the Sofirn ST10 for the following reasons... 1.) Reviews say how good the clip is, which is essential for how I want to use the light (clipped onto my backpack). 2.) The 660nm red light is apparently 'deep red', but more importantly it's super bright and has a flash setting. 3.) No external USB port. The improved water-resistance from the lack of USB port is nice if I get rained on

Take a look at the Sofirn ST10. Comes with a 14500 USB rechargeable battery, but also takes normal AA batteries.
