Sebo D4

The Sebo D4 is a premium, high-capacity canister vacuum widely regarded as a 'buy-it-for-life' appliance. It is praised for its industrial-grade durability, exceptional reach, and effectiveness in homes with heavy-shedding pets. However, opinions are mixed regarding its physical footprint; while many value its power, others find it excessively heavy and unwieldy for smaller living spaces.
Pros
- Extra-long 40-foot power cord allows for cleaning large areas or full staircases without switching outlets.
- Large 1.5-gallon bag capacity reduces the frequency of bag changes, especially useful for pet owners.
- Industrial-grade build quality with a 10-year warranty and long-term parts availability.
- Swivel hose connection at the canister helps prevent hose kinking and improves maneuverability compared to smaller models.
- Highly effective ET-1 powerhead with an easily removable brush roll for cleaning hair wraps.
Cons
- Significant weight and bulk make it difficult to carry and store.
- High retail price, often cited between $1,500 and $1,600 new.
- Can be unwieldy in tight spaces, with some users reporting it bumps into walls or furniture frequently.
Caveats
- Often described as 'overkill' for homes smaller than 2,500 square feet.
- While the swivel base is intended to prevent tipping, some users still find the canister prone to flipping or getting caught on obstacles.
- The parquet tool's maneuverability received specific criticism from users with complex furniture layouts.
Best for
- Large homes (2,500+ sq ft).
- Owners of heavy-shedding pets like huskies.
- Users seeking a long-term investment to replace frequent disposable vacuum purchases.
Avoid if
- You have a small apartment or limited storage space.
- You have physical limitations that make lugging a heavy canister difficult.
- You are on a strict budget and do not need the extended cord or bag capacity.

I took the D4 home, disliked the weight, and returned it for the Felix.
Sebo E3 or D4. Do not go Miele. They make good or but Miele is BMW level nickel and diming.
I've had a Sebo D4 for 4 years and that's the longest I've had a vacuum last. I love it. We have a zoo, and a child. So the bag fills up every 2 months.

Just got the same configuration in the same color in the little brother D4V2 for my first. It honestly was smaller than I expected and kind of wish I had done the D4K now
I would look at either the E3 or D4 for you! They have the same powerhead, so either would be great for your carpet and all that dog hair. ... The D4 has a much bigger bag (1.5 gallons), which is nice with two big dogs because you’re changing it less often. The hose also rotates where it connects to the canister, so it’s easier to maneuver around furniture. The other big thing with the D4 is the 40-foot cord.
Yep, easiest brush roll to remove (K3, E3, D4) models - no air driven turbo nozzle for people with shedders for dogs. Combine that with the 10 year warranty, and parts you’ll still be able to get 35+ years from now and SEBO is the winner.
One excels at every feature enough and with the warranty, made me feel like it was worth selling my body in whatever ways to pay for the Sebo. ... buy once, cry once and be ready to find an excuse to want to use your Sebo every single day.
Did even more research and found what I actually wanted might be the Sebo D4. ... both do the main job of vacuuming the carpet with dog hair pretty good. ... One excels at every feature enough and with the warranty, made me feel like it was worth selling my body in whatever ways to pay for the Sebo.
I have the SEBO D4. Every single part is orderable and can be replaced, relatively cheaply. It has a ton yearly warranty. The SEBO is a different level. It’ll last twenty years.
